Artist Walkthrough for David Horvtiz's being living

June 30, 2025

Join us on Monday, June 30 at 7pm for an artist-led walkthrough of being living, David Horvitz’s survey exhibition at JOAN, on view through August 23.

During the walkthrough, Horvitz will guide us through various parts of the exhibition, including artworks and objects he has gifted, photographs and paintings connected to poetry readings and participatory events held at Café 2001 and the 7th Avenue Garden, as well as items he mailed over the years to Uta Barth and Zanna Gilbert. Across these varied media, he explores the porous boundaries between time, distance, communication, and human connection—often subverting conventional systems to reveal what is fleeting, ephemeral, and unexpected.

No RSVP needed. Refreshments and snacks will be served—probably pizza!

Please reach out at us@joanlosangeles.org with any access needs or questions.

David Horvitz was born in Los Angeles, where he currently lives and works. His multidisciplinary practice explores systems of language, time, and networks, often questioning the distances—geographical, temporal, and interpersonal—that separate people and places. Working with images, text, and objects, his projects move fluidly across contexts, frequently inhabiting the intimate and everyday.
